My blog experience

Hey classmates! It is almost the end of the semester and hello vacations! I have to say that I am glad to choose this class because it has been an escape of the routine! Write blogs and then the activities makes you just think in English and I love that. I think one of the benefits of write blogs at least one day per week is that you have to be clear in your mind how to write, talk and most important think in English and learn some words that helps you to express yourself and that is because of the assignments. 

The assignments, I think, they were good chosen because make us to think a lot, sometimes were to tell a history, or something that you have experience, what you like and what you want for the future. They were so creative and different so before to start the class you are thinking "what would I write today on my blog". My favorite is “a walk”. Reminded me how much fun I had that time!. and I could share some pictures of Torres del Paine to you all so you can see how beautiful is the south of our country. Also the blog is a good way to learn about some things of your classmates and teacher and some times makes you want to do some stuff that you read on a blog, most of the time the things that Simon writes but is a little far from here hahaah. I didn´t have a blog before and I think I am going to miss it!:( Thank you all, Fran out. 

Penguin lost in the capital

Hello classmates! Well I am from Punta Arenas really far from here, far from my family, my house, and most important my bed! I move here to Santiago for two reasons: I had the opportunity and the universities there are not good at all, and I am trying to survive here in the capital. When you are far from you home town, you have to remember why you are far in first time, and then when you think that, everything is worth it. I had been in Santiago before but not actually a long time, maximum just a week. I knew that “Santiaguinos” were “different” in the way to talk, express and even opinion but my first month here I got impressed. It is funny when you start to tell a story and they don’t understand my words and I get confused because even the materials they say in a different way! We say “maceta” and “crudo” in most of the time, we eat “confites” no candies, we go on Sundays to the camp, we wait all year to have snow and cover our city with its beautiful white (we even have a song for that, for real). I can’t say that I am not happy here in Santiago, actually I feel lucky to meet some good people here! And also the capital have a few good things: there is a diversity of people, things, food, etc. Everything is more accessible here and you don’t have to wait a month to get stuff. And I know I am going to learn and love more od Santiago.

 Today I am going to talk about a job that I think is one of the funniest job ever. Since I Saw a movie of people who work in Google I started to investigate about if everything in that movie is true. Then I realize how awesome is this company! .They give to their workers a good and positive environment to work and leave the creativity fly. They give to them free food, there is a lot of rooms of games, like bowling, basketball, swimming pools, ping pong , etc.,  and in order to relax, like rooms with bed to sleep. Also the thing that I like the most is that it’s not a normal office, there is creativity everywhere that you can see: paintings on walls, positive colors, and also in time of work: they believe on team work because the results are really good. I think for this job you need to be good at computers and also be creative. Google is so unique because they design the website to be not bored and easy to search about something and I think I would be good to design room for the company and also I would like to design part of the website in order to be funnier or prettier. 

Hello classmates, in today´s assignment I am going to talk about a painting that I like. 

Liberty Leading the People is a painting by Eugène Delacroix and shows the moment of end of the revolution in France, when the monarchy went down and the voice of the people won. The first time that I saw and learnt about this painting was in a classroom in my history class. I remember that I imagined while I was appreciating the painting, how horrible it was that part of the history and finally they felt the freedom. Then a few years later, I traveled to Paris and I had the possibility to go to the Louvre. I was just expected to see the Mona Lisa and in the middle of the museum I entered to a long room with big and beautiful paintings, and there it was this painting. Definitely see this paining in front you is different than in front of your computer. You can feel the moment of freedom. The desperation of the people to be heard And the woman represent the truly liberty of this country. I have no doubt that this is one of the best painting in the history because you can feel what the painter wanted to express, and in my opinion this is one of the important things of art.

Trying to catch up!

TV program

Good Day FAU bloggers! I am trying to catch up with the assignments so now I am going to write about a TV program I saw when I was a child. I remember a lot of TV programs because when I was little I loved Disney! But the one I remember the most is “that’s so Raven”. The series is about a girl who is introvert, likes too much the fashion and the most important thing, she is a psychic; But she just has some visions about a part of the future and she can´t control when are going to appear the visions and most of the time is something bad and she try to not to happen. The special of this TV program is that when Raven has an adventure in order to fix the future, includes her family and her friends so they are always in the program.  Her family are the “Evans”. Her dad is a chef, her mother a teacher and she has a little brother who is more intelligent than the child at his age. And she has two best friends who they are always for her: Chelsea and Eddie and they are so funny! Chelsea is the typical girl who likes theatre so she was a introverted personality and Eddie the guy who likes rap an sports.

Now I am going to talk about a picture I took. This summer I went with my family to new restaurant here in Santiago, and we went a one that is located in “Barrio Lastarria”. It was a gourmet restaurant and I wanted to eat something interesting from the menu and it was “salmon with a salad of mango and seeds”. I wasn’t expecting a big dish of food or something that make me so impress. But when the waitress gave me my order I was so impressed! I even didn’t want to eat that beautiful dish. Something that I really like was the game between the colours and textures! I have to say that I am not that kind of person who always takes pictures of what they eat but it was necessary to catch the delicious moment! So that’s why I always remember this picture.

A holiday

Hello FAU bloggers!

I want to talk about a trip I did with my family in 2014. That year we went to Europe: London, Paris, Rome, Venice, Florence, Madrid and Croatia in just two weeks that means we stayed like 2-4 in each city. That was the first time we went out of the country and we were excited because it was a dream come true. We visited everything we wanted to see for our own eyes and not from the internet or TV: Buckingham palace, Eiffel tower, Coliseo, Fontana Di Trevi, etc. The place we most enjoyed was Venice. The atmosphere there is so joyful, relaxed, pizza, wine, boats, St. Pablo square. Everything so perfect! Also we went to Croatia because our family is from there, so we wanted to go to the house of my gran grandparents. The island it calls “Brač”. It is an island full of beautiful landscapes and the beaches there have the characteristic to have stone instead of sand, and with turquoise and crystalline water. What a peaceful p place!  Without a doubt it was the best trip I ever had! It was a trip to learn about Europe culture, beautiful landscapes, and moment with family.

Hello classmates! Last week I had to do a presentation and I talked about Harry Potter. I chose that topic because it is one of my favourite things and it is part of who I am. To have information in the presentation, I investigated on internet and I knew a lot of things so it was easy to do. The difficult part was to decide to talk about the movie or the books. I chose the books because it was the beginning of harry potter and I wanted to talk about how difficult was for J.K Rowling to publish these books, also, the books describes in a better way the story. It was fun to do these presentations because it was something different to do and that made like a “break” of the routine. And also it was fun to hear the presentation of my classmates to know them and know what they like.
